Today Arlington second grade teachers met to to discuss our upcoming reading unit which will engage the children in reading book series. This is a new unit in second grade and I am very certain that this may become my favorite one! Stay tuned for more!
The Stratton School concert is April 4th at 9:00 (for grades K-2). Today we practiced with the entire second grade on stage!
We greatly enjoyed having author/Illustrator Scott Magoon visit Stratton today. Ask your child which book is her/his favorite. We have been talking about a positive growth mindset during our Social Thinking lessons. We discussed strategies we could use when things are challenging. We all tried to flip a coin from our elbows. This activity was a challenge for some of us but everyone kept trying. Today we began a new science unit Pebbles, Sand and Silt. We explored what happens when you rub two rocks together.
We had a wonderful time on our field trip today at the Lynn Auditorium. Ask your child which story was her/his favorite. Personally I really loved “The Dot” and of course “Dragons Love Tacos”. The stories were funny. The songs were catchy. The show was a nice connection to the literature we are reading in class. Thank you to our chaperones! Thank you to the Stratton PTO for your support.
Today local author/illustrator, Bob Flynn joined our class to show us tips and strategies to support our writing and drawing. This was a fun lesson. Thank you Stratton PTO for organizing and funding this for us.
Listen to some wonderful stories, including "Dragons Love Tacos".
Help support all that the Stratton PTO does year round while winning awesome items.Field Trips - Book Fair - In Classroom Enrichment - Brain Pop - Movie Night - Pumpkin Carving Night - Teacher Support - Picture Day - Science Night - Author Visits - Almost Monthly Parent Coffees - Spring Community Event
AND MORE! The children have been collecting data from our class and from other grades at Stratton. The boys and girls have been doing a great job of asking survey questions, representing and analyzing the data.
