On Friday, my son Brendan helped to put school supplies in our pencil boxes. He also set up our writing folders. I think I’ll hire him!

One of my favorite things to do as a teacher is to prepare our classroom for the upcoming year. It’s fun to think of a new theme (this year it is hot air balloons) and I enjoy organizing classroom tools and supplies. My mom was a teacher and principal for over 30 years and I loved helping her decorate her classroom when I was in my teens. I hope you will think our classroom is as bright and cheerful as I do. I still have more to do I’m enjoying the process! I’ll post more photos soon!
Many thanks to our amazing literacy coaches and APS for purchasing the wonderful new books. Today we received new titles for our Book Series and Nonfiction units. I can’t wait for the children to dive into these!
LI’m taking part in a two day Social Emotional Learning Workshop in Springfield. We’re learning instructional methods of SEL and how they can lead to a positive outcome in our students. Right now we’re talking about the use of brain breaks and interacting with some fun puzzles and games!
I came into our class today and found many boxes filled with school supplies! Many thanks to our PTO for ordering these for teachers and for our families. The photo shows a sampling of the goodies!
