Hi Families,
Just a quick reminder about the optional Holiday Help Program; If you would like to support the program with monetary donations, please send them in on Thursday. We appreciate your support. On Sunday, we are meeting at the Target in Burlington at 12:00. If you are able to join us and you have not send in the permission slip, please send this in to us on Thursday as well. Many thanks! The children created fall leaves today. Each child wrote what he/she is thankful for. It’s sweet to see hear that the children appreciate so many things they have in their lives.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! The Barth Cafe was open today for a nonfiction book tasting. Ask your child which books she/he “tasted”.
Today the children were provided a “soup mix” of different sized particles. They found ways to separate the mix of solid materials. Second graders at Stratton have read the hilarious story “Those Darn Squirrels” by Adam Rubin. The visitor at the Barth’s house reminded me of this awesome book! Our second grade is taking part in a Symbolic Migration project through “Journey North” (a global study of wildlife migration and seasonal change). We learned about the monarch butterfly and its migration patterns. As part of this project we sent our butterflies to Mexico. In the spring we hope to have monarch butterflies (paper versions) sent to us. This project is teaching us about conservation, migration and cooperation.
