I will be out sick again tomorrow.  But I plan to be back to school on Monday with bells on!
Mrs. Coveno (first grade job-share teacher with Mrs. Pratt) was in today and she said the boys and girls were wonderful! Way to show your Stratton PRIDE second graders!
Ms. Sallari will be in tomorrow.  If there are any schedule changes for your child tomorrow, please feel free to send in a note to Ms. Sallari, or call the main office.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

I can not thank you enough for your support with the Giving Project.  This project was very successful again this year.  Six Stratton classes collected money, shopped and wrapped many gifts for local children in need.  Due to your time and generosity, some additional children will have a better holiday season.
We have a wonderful community!

First Week in December Video

It has been a busy and fun week.  The children have written and presented speeches to be considered for the Lunch Committee.  Congratulations to JN and RL.  During the week we used our ipads to listen/view a variety of winter stories.  The children scanned posters with Q-R codes and were instantly brought to the stories on the ipad.  I found the Q-R codes on a teacher website and I was able to use our new poster maker to create the cool charts. Many thanks to the PTO for buying the awesome poster maker.  Below you can view a short slide-show of the children presenting their speeches.  You will also see a selection of students' covers of their Quiet Place books.  There are also a couple photos of the children during our morning meeting today and  free time.  Enjoy!

Students as Leaders

12/2/2014

Second grade students have been offered a leadership role at Stratton.  Mr. Hanna is looking for two student representatives from each grade 2 classroom to be part of a Lunch Committee.  This group will help create guidelines and suggestions for the whole student body at Stratton for lunch and recess time.  Last week Room 5 students wrote about what makes a good leader and who are some examples of good leaders.  On Monday, children were given time to write speeches describing why they should be a student representative.  Today, students volunteered to share their speeches to our class.  This week the children will vote on two leaders to represent our class.  The boys and girls have been very supportive and kind to each other during this process.  Students are taking away many lessons from this experience.
