Hi Families,

I hope this email finds you well and that you are healthy and enjoying this time with your loved ones.  The Barth family is doing well. The kids are reading some great books and are working on DreamBox during the week.  Chewie (our cute three year old dog) has enjoyed being home with us and giving him extra walks and attention.

I will be sending emails to stay connected with our class community.  I am here to support you in any way possible. Please reach out to let me know how you’re doing.  I have enjoyed seeing the photos and videos that families have been sending. With permission, I have been posting some photos and videos to our Instagram page: Grade2Rocks2019.

I have recorded a read aloud for the children. Click this link: https://honceoui.wistia.com/medias/qck2u9uqr4
(This is my first time reading a story on camera, so please be patient as I was a bit camera shy.)
The name of the book is Mudball which is written and illustrated by local author Matt Tavares.  Matt visited Stratton in 2017. Check out Matt’s website.

DreamBox is available for the children.  The lessons follow the Common Core. Please let me know if you need any assistance in logging in.  https://play.dreambox.com/login/wgj3/norcrosss
The classroom code is: 87873

If your child plans on making a video for Mrs. Connors Handwashing Challenge, please email me the clip and I will post it to our Instagram account.

Our science coaches sent an email to families sharing some of the fun projects that students across the district have been doing.  Also included are some ideas that your child could do at home. I’ve looked at some of the pictures and videos - they are amazing! Feel free to send any pictures or videos to Sarah Huber.  Her email address is on the site.

This is the link to Strattons reading teachers webpage.  http://letsreadstratton.weebly.com/  Here you will find a link to texts that your son or daughter can read at their just right reading level.  Please let me know if you have any questions. I have seen some great results on Raz-Kids! Please continue to have your child read the books and then take the comprehension questions.

Thank you to Chrissie Collins for setting up the Marco Polo app for our classroom! If you and your child would like to join this casual/informal video chat group, the link is https://onmarcopolo.com/groups/xWLtflAPhN2t/grade-2-mrs-barth

I look forward to staying in touch with you all.
Please let me know what I can do to support you and your family!

Best,
Julie Barth
